Vaping CBD: What You Need to Know

When it comes to vaping CBD, you have two options. Experienced vapers will likely already have a vaporiser that they use on a regular basis, whereas newcomers might want to try out a disposable vape pen at first. With an e-cigarette or vaporiser, the cartridge containing the CBD e-liquid can be changed when it runs out; you can change the flavor as much as you like. Some of these options are quite high-tech and allow you to manage things like temperature control as well. Disposable pens, on the other hand, are thrown away as soon as the cartridge is empty.

No matter your choice, there are four basic components that make up a vaporiser. There is always a battery, a heating element or atomizer, a mouthpiece, and a chamber to hold the e-liquid cartridge.

Disposable vape pens are famously less complicated than their reusable counterparts. They are designed for simplicity, which is why many casual vapers will be satisfied with a simple disposable vape pen.

As for the e-liquids you use alongside a pen, they are similar to the nicotine e-liquids used with regular vape pens. However, instead of containing nicotine, they just contain CBD. Producers usually use their very own CBD oil, after thinning it down using propylene glycol (PG) and mixing it with vegetable glycerine (VG).

Are There Any Health Concerns with Vaping CBD?

Vaping was originally created as a means of curbing the smoking habit. We all know that smoking cigarettes is bad for the lungs and our health in general. This is partly due to the combustion of materials within the cigarette, including the tobacco and the paper. The burning of these ingredients means you are inhaling both hot air and burned substances, which is bad for the lungs.

The idea behind vaping is that the substance is heated at a much lower temperature. The e-liquid is never burned, and therefore you are avoiding combustion altogether.

However, since vaping is new, we don’t know the long-term consequences of regular vaping. There are some issues you could encounter, such as popcorn lung from flavorings such as diacetyl (which is now banned in some places for its harmful effects).

More generally, we know that heavy vapers of CBD e-liquids could still have problems with the lungs. The thinning agents used in CBD oils, like PG, can break down into carcinogens, even when heated at low temperatures as with vaporizers. Secondly, vaping any oil can cause problems like lipoid pneumonia, in which the fatty globules of oil build up in the airways.

These problems are likely to only affect heavy vapers. Having a little each day as a means of getting a CBD dose could be okay, but it’s worth being aware of potential risks before you start.

Determining the Right CBD Dosage

You should know what strength of CBD you need before you buy the cartridge. When considering this, you need to take several factors into account including body weight, body chemistry, and your overall health.

We recommend starting out with CBD oils or capsules rather than vapes. By using these products, you can tailor and adjust the dose until you find the CBD strength that works for you. Although you cannot overdose on CBD, you may experience unpleasant side effects if you take too high a dose.

Newcomers to CBD should start out with around 5mg of CBD per day. If you experience no ill effects, but also no positive ones, then you can increase the dose little by little, until you find something that works. Of course, if you are heavier, you can take a stronger CBD dose to begin with.

When you know what your minimum effective dose is, you can purchase a CBD e-liquid that matches your needs. Of course, you don’t need to vape the whole cartridge in one sitting, but checking your dosage first ensures that you will be getting enough CBD each time you vape.
